UK film Dr. Glas selected for Berlinale Co-production Market

The 36 new feature film projects chosen to take part in the 15th edition of the Berlinale Co-production Market, a three-day international pitching event taking place during the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), have been revealed.

The UK is represented by Dr. Glas, a UK-Irish co-production by Fantastic Films (Ireland) & Makar Productions (Scotland). The adaptation of the classic Swedish novel by Hjalmar Soderberg is directed by Aisling Walsh, whose previous work includes the biopic of artist Maud Lewis,Maudie.

The market is funded through the MEDIA sub-programme’s Access to Markets scheme. 550 international film producers, financiers and distributors, as well as representatives from funding bodies, sales agents and TV channels, will come together to meet one-to-one with participants and discuss projects which have the potential for international co-production.

The selection is rounded off by the ten projects being presented at the Talent Project Market, which is taking place in collaboration with Berlinale Talents 2018 where up-and-coming producers will have a chance to showcase their projects.

The selected projects are also eligible for some of the most sought-after prizes at the Berlinale Co-Production Market, such as the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award (€20,000), the VFF Talent Highlight Award (€10,000) and the ARTE International Prize (€6,000). The Berlinale Co-Production Market is organised in partnership with MDM - Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung and Creative Europe.

The Berlinale Co-production Market runs from 17 to 21 February 2018.
