The Place and DanceEast host a European Dancehouse Network Atelier
The Place in London and DanceEast in Ipswich, both members of the European Dancehouse Network, hosted the EDN Atelier, entitled The Lonely Dance of Leadership, from 25 until 27 February 2016. The atelier brought together 11 professionals, including artistic directors, programme managers, administrators, choreographers and a dramaturge, from six European countries and Canada.
The professionals heard from guest speakers from different sectors, such as Sue Hoyle from the Clore Leadership Programme and Eva Martínez, Artistic Programmer and Artist Development Manager at Sadler’s Wells, and engaged in discussions exploring various approaches to leading dance organisations.
EDN Ateliers are regular themed workshops that encourage skill-sharing and knowledge exchange between cultural professionals from the 35 dancehouse members of the EDN network. Since September 2014, EDN has received support from Creative Europe through the European Networks funding strand. Members of the network share a common vision regarding the development of dance art across borders and they work together to secure a sustainable future for the dance sector in Europe and strengthen its relevance.
