Rojo
Director Benjamín Naishtat’s stylish, darkly funny drama Rojo is set on the eve of the 1976 Argentinian coup that ushered in a military dictatorship and immerses us in the country's troubled collective subconscious during its Dirty War. An international co-production between Argentina, France, the Netherlands, Brazil, Germany and Switzerland, the film received financial backing from IFFR's HBF+Europe: Minority Co-production support, which itself received support through the MEDIA sub-programme.
Rojo is released in the UK on 6 September by New Wave Films.
The Shiny Shrimps (Les Crevettes pailletées)
After making homophobic remarks, Mathias Le Goff, vice-world swimming champion, is sentenced to coach The Shiny Shrimps, a gay water polo team, more motivated by the party than by the competition. The French sports-comedy received Creative Europe support through the Automatic Distribution scheme.
The film is released in the UK on 6 September by Peccadillo Pictures.
