MEDIA films on UK screens: March 2015


UK production company Number 9 Films received Slate funding to assist with the development of this stylish cop thriller set around London's drug trade. The film is written and directed by Gerard Johnson and stars Peter Ferdinando (Starred Up, A Field in England) as a corrupt narcotics detective. Metrodome will release the film in the UK on 6 March.

Life of Riley (Aimer, boire et chanter)

This comedy-drama is the final film to be directed by French filmmaking veteran Alain Resnais and is an adaptation of the 2010 play Life of Riley by English playwright Alan Ayckbourn. Distributors in Austria, Belgium, Hungary and Portugal received grants through the Automatic scheme to support the release of the film in their territories. Eureka will release the film in the UK on 6 March.

The Gunman

French director Pierre Morel (Taken, From Paris With Love) brings this star-studded action thriller to our screens this month. A US/France/Spain co-production, the film follows Sean Penn as a Special Forces soldier on the run across Europe. Its release in Sweden will be supported through the Creative Europe Automatic scheme. StudioCanal will release the film in the UK on 20 March. 

A Second Chance (En chance til)

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) stars as a veteran police officer who makes a fateful decision when he is brought into contact with a pair of junkie parents in this morally complex drama from Danish director, Susanne Bier. The UK is one of the 13 European countries where the film’s release has been supported by the Selective scheme. Vertigo Films will release the film in the UK on 20 March.

The Face of an Angel

Michael Winterbottom’s latest film is a psychological thriller based on the real-life story of Amanda Knox who was accused of the murder of Meredith Kercher in 2007. UK production company Revolution Films received development support for the project through the Slate scheme. Soda Pictures will release the film in the UK on 20 March.

Robot Overlords

This family sci-fi adventure starring Ben Kingsley and Gillian Anderson, and depicting an earth that has been conquered by robots from another galaxy, received support for its distribution in Slovenia through the Automatic scheme. Signature Entertainment will release the film in the UK on 27 March.
