MEDIA films on UK screens: June
A solitary and alienated television weatherman "hires" a middle-aged Latino migrant worker to be his friend, in this darkly comedic reflection on class, ethnicity, and companionship in contemporary Los Angeles. Irish writer-director John Butler delivers a poignant and timely story of two worlds colliding in the same great city — and the delightfully unlikely friendship that emerges.
Irish production company Treasure Entertainment received Slate Funding to develop the project in 2016. Read more about MEDIA support has helped their company grow on the Creative Europe Desk Ireland website.
Papi Chulo will be released in the UK by Eclipse Pictures on 7 June.

A Season In France
After a tragedy in his personal life, an African teacher flees his violent country for France, where he falls in love with a local woman who works as a florist. Mahamat-Saleh Haroun’s soul-searching film focuses on the plight of undocumented asylum seekers desperately trying to find sanctuary in Europe.
The film received Automatic Distribution funding for its releases in Austria and the Netherlands.
A Season in France will be released in the UK by New Wave on 14 June.
