The continuing dialogue at the European Film Forums

September’s 63rd San Sebastian International Film Festival is set to host a European Film Forum with Creative Europe.

Taking place on 20 September 2015, the event is the next appointment in a string of European Film Forum summits, which kicked off in February at the Berlinale, followed by Cannes and the Sarajevo Film Festival.

The third and latest instalment of the Forum, Public funding for co-productions: Cooperating better across borders in the borderless digital world, took place in Sarajevo on 21 August with the festival’s Head of Industry, Jovan Marjanović moderating a lively discussion between industry representatives from the Netherlands, Croatia, Poland, Georgia and France.

Further Forums are scheduled to take place at Venice on 5 September 2015, Mipcom in October and at the Black Nights Film Festival Tallinn, when issues to be addressed will include new sales and distribution channels, audience development and partnerships between venture capital and film funding.

As a discussion forum and a presentation of industry best practices, the events allow the Commission to hold a dialogue with key players from film and television about a strategic policy agenda in a digital age.

Entitled Audiences in Motion, The European Film Forum at San Sebastian will focus on financing and public support for content in a digital age, the changing relation between European films and their audiences and support for talent and creativity.

Schedules for all of the European Film Forums will be made available through the Publications section of our website.
