Apply by 1 October for the EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards
Heritage organisations and initiatives can now apply for Europe’s most prestigious prize in the heritage field, the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards, which is supported by Creative Europe.
Launched in 2002 by the European Commission, the awards spotlight and reward the best of cultural heritage achievements, celebrating excellence by architects, craftsmen, volunteers, schools, local communities, heritage owners and media. Prizes are given to the 30 most outstanding achievements from across Europe in conservation, research, dedicated service, and education, training and awareness-raising. Up to seven will be selected as Grand Prix winners and receive €10,000 each. One will receive the Public Choice Award, chosen in an online poll conducted by Europa Nostra.
In 2015 four of the 28 selected initiatives were based in the UK:
- Middleport Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent
- Heritage Skills Initiative, Newcastle upon Tyne
- Churches Conservation Trust, London
- Young Archaeologists’ Club, York
The deadline for submitting your project is on 1 October 2015 and all the winners will be celebrated at the European Heritage Awards Ceremony 2016 in Madrid, Spain.
