27 co-productions supported by Eurimages
At its most recent management board meeting in Bratislava, the Council of Europe’s Eurimages fund agreed to support 27 co-productions (including one documentary and an animation project), with over €7 million.
Although the UK is not a member of Eurimages, one of the selected projects, Yuli, by Iciar Bollain from Spain, has UK involvement. The film is a co-production between Spain, Cuba, Germany, United Kingdom and France.
An untitled project from two-time Academy Award winner Asghar Farhadi also receives support, along with Dogman by Matteo Garrone, director of Gomorrah and Tale of Tales.
24 distributors will also receive awards totalling a combined €777,252 from the Eurimages distribution support programme, which helps projects with marketing and publicity costs.
Eurimages is a support fund for cinema co-production, theatrical distribution and exhibition established by the Council of Europe in 1988. Since being set up, the fund has supported 1862 European co-productions for a total amount of approximately €553 million.
