The Chinese Room is an award-winning game development studio based in Brighton, best known for creating experimental first-person games.
In August 2015, they released Everybody's Gone to the Rapture on PlayStation 4, an openworld, post-apocalyptic adventure set in Shropshire, England in 1984. This was published by Sony Santa Monica, and has received critical acclaim from journalists and has been showcased at various events such as E3, EGX, Paris Games Week, and has been nominated for TIGA and Golden Joystick awards.
The studio is now developing Total Dark with the support of Creative Europe.
Dan Pinchbeck, Creative Director of The Chinese Room, said:
"The funding we've received is invaluable at this early stage of development, where it's hugely important to be able to experiment and iterate - you are laying the ground work for production and it's critical that you are able to take the time you need to get it right. Early prototyping funds are a valuable resource for UK games developers and it's been great to work with Creative Europe Desk UK."
