The Film London Production Finance Market (PFM) is a two-day annual film financing event which takes place in October in association with the BFI London Film Festival.
The Production Finance Market is an industry staple for people looking to get films made - from starting new business relationships, to attaching international sales companies to securing various forms of investments in companies and film projects. PFM connects international producers and financiers to encourage new film financing relationships, and is the only event of its kind in the UK.
The event sees over 800 networking and pitching meetings between financiers and producers. Taking the form of "high-end speed dating", producers have just 30 minutes to impress the financiers before moving on to the next meeting. Participants also get the chance to attend panels of industry experts on new developments in film.
In 2016, Film London and the PFM's stakeholders continued to concentrate on Europe as the key territory to benefit from the commercial appeal of the market. The market was able to increase opportunities for European producers and financiers to gain access to more commercial, ambitious international flm markert beyond local subsidy and bi-lateral co-production strategies. To date, more than 100 film projects which were presented at the market have been produced and circulated internationally.
The PFM is the only business to business event of its kind in the UK which supports experienced and emerging filmmakers with projects across all budget levels with their need to gain production finance, access to international sales and distribution and meet new financiers in the international marketplace.
Helena Mackenzie, Head of Inward Investment & Business Development at Film London, said:
"Creative Europe funding helps the Film London Production Finance Market connect filmmakers with financiers. Every year the event hosts over a thousand one-to-one meetings, bringing together those with great projects and those with the power to bring them to the screen."
