The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert & Sullivan is a rarely professionally performed English operetta that is being co-produced by English National Opera, Les Theatres de la Ville de Luxembourg and Saarlandisches Staatstheater. This project is a European collaboration that explores audience development and a new business model. All partner organisations are looking to engage audiences that would not usually attend our theatres as part of a joint audience development strategy. They will also be testing a new business model of circulating work by sharing the costs of creating the physical aspects of the project (sets, props and costumes) and with performers travelling from ENO and Saarbrucken to perform in Luxembourg and Caen.
