FST Dance Forum - Communicating Dance
Tramway, 25 Albert Dr, Glasgow G41 2PE
If dance is there before the language begins, how do we communicate it to audiences, funders and other stakeholders?
This is a day-long event aimed at programmers, marketers, producers and artists – everyone who is involved in communicating about dance performances. In the morning there will be a workshop led by Jeanette Keen from Dance Ireland. Dance Ireland were participants in the EU Erasmus Plus supported project 360 Building Strategies for Communication in Contemporary Dance, which involved the staff of six European dance houses, international communication experts and many dance practitioners at different career stages with diverse practices.
The morning session will explore the results and findings of that project. It will be followed by a networking lunch and a practical discussion with participants and panel professionals, which will address the current challenges surrounding communication of dance performances in Scotland, with an aim to identifying practical solutions.
After lunch Kate Deans from Creative Europe Desk UK-Scotland will give a short presentation on Creative Europe's funding and opportunities along with some example projects. Afternoon contributors include Lauren Wright from Siobhan Davies Dance Compnay, lead partner in the interdisciplinary Creative Europe supported Cooperation Project Dancing Museums.
This event has been developed by Federation of Scottish Theatre (FST) and The Work Room in response to Creative Scotland’s Review of Touring Theatre and Dance in Scotland.
