Event 1: Panel Discussion - An Arthouse Cinema Boom: The Role of Festivals and Distributors
Date: Monday 2nd March 17:00pm – 18:30pm
Location: DoubleTree Hilton Glasgow Central
Are we in an arthouse boom? How can festivals and distributors boost indie films? The recent future-facing Nostradamus Report heralded a new creative renaissance in arthouse films from Parasite to The Lighthouse to Uncut Gems. But smaller-budget films still fight to cut through the noise of the studio blockbusters. Wendy Mitchell hosts a panel with key voices in the film industry that will discuss how they see the continuing struggle for the marketplace between blockbusters and smaller, challenging arthouse films. The panel look at the role of film festivals and distributors in the current landscape, as well as the space for collaboration between players in the value chain in upcoming years. Panellists include Emilie Lesclaux (Producer of Cannes-awarded Bacurau), Ewa Bojanowska (New Europe Film Sales) and Jason Wood (HOME, Ant-Woods)
Event supported by Creative Europe Desk UK.
