Kate Deans

Culture Officer, Creative Europe Desk UK – Scotland

Kate Deans is based at Creative Scotland in Edinburgh and is responsible for promoting and facilitating Creative Europe’s Culture sub-programme within Scotland. Originally from the Orkney Islands, she is keen to support the creative and cultural sector across the whole of Scotland and strengthen their European relationships by raising awareness of Creative Europe. 

Kate has worked within a variety of roles in event delivery, fundraising and programming, and has worked for a number of Edinburgh’s festivals. She also worked as Programme Coordinator on the Momentum programme, a cultural diplomacy partnership between British Council, Creative Scotland and Festivals Edinburgh in 2012 and 2013. She speaks several languages (English, French, German, Norwegian and some Spanish and Arabic), and has lived and worked in Germany and Brussels, where she was a trainee within the Directorate-General for Communications at the European Parliament.
