Through its Video Games scheme, Creative Europe offers non-repayable grants of €10,000 to €150,000 to companies looking to develop a playable prototype of a narrative-led video game. The next deadline for this funding opportunity is on 3 March 2016, so if you are preparing an application, register for a one-to-one meeting with us for advice and guidance before you submit it to Brussels.

Details for the next MEDIA day at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) have been announced, with the first European Film Forum of the year taking place on 15 February 2016 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel (Potsdamer Platz 3). 

The event, organised by the European Commission, takes a digital focus and showcases innovative projects supported by Creative Europe's MEDIA sub-programme. Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, is set to attend.

22 UK professionals selected for the 14th edition of Berlinale Talents

300 emerging film and drama series professionals have been selected for the 14th edition of Creative Europe-supported Berlinale Talents, including 22 from the UK. 

The selected group was chosen from a pool of 2,761 applicants from over 130 countries, and is comprised of writers, directors, producers, cinematographers, actors, editors, distributors, production designers, composers, sound designers and film journalists.

New BFI FAN scheme to support foreign language films

The BFI's Film Audience Network (FAN) is launching a new scheme to support the distribution of foreign language films in the UK, and two Creative Europe-funded films have been selected as the first titles to receive support.

FAN is made up of nine regional ‘Film Hubs’ in the UK who work closely with a number of regional exhibitors. They will invest £100,000 in the distribution of six films this year. The first two titles chosen for the scheme are:

The nominations for the 88th Academy Awards have been announced, featuring 11 MEDIA-funded films that will be in the running to take home an Oscar® on 28 February.

From these 11 films, it is Todd Haynes’ Carol that leads the race with six nominations overall. The film’s UK producers Number 9 Films received support for the development of the project through the previous MEDIA Programme (2007-2013).
