MEDIA-funded Toni Erdmann wins big at the 29th European Film Awards

Maren Ade and team accept their prizes at the European Film Awards

Maren Ade’s tragicomedy took home the prize for Best European Film 2016, making it the  first time a female has won the award in the event’s history.

At the official ceremony, which took place in Wroclaw, European Capital of Culture, on Saturday 10 December, Toni Erdmann was also awarded four more prizes: Maren Ade won both Best Director and Best Screenwriter, and the film’s two leads, Sandra Hüller and Peter Simonischek, won Best Actress and Best Actor.
