Creative Europe supports UK release of eight European films

The latest results for the MEDIA sub-programme’s Selective Distribution scheme have been published.
UK distributors, Curzon and MUBI, received a total of €368,900 to support the release of the following eight European films in the UK:

Sámi Blood wins the 2017 LUX Film Prize

The winner of this year’s LUX Film Prize was announced by European Parliament President Antonio Tajani in Strasbourg on Tuesday.
Sámi Blood, a Swedish/Norwegian/Danish co-production, won the 11th edition of the prize which aims to cast a spotlight on films that go to the heart of European public debate.

16 MEDIA-funded films nominated for EFAs 2017

The nominations for the 2017 European Film Academy awards were announced at the Seville European Film Festival last week. Among the 27 feature films to receive a nomination, 16 have been supported through Creative Europe.
Ruben Östlund’s Palme d'Or winning The Square leads the way with five nominations, closely followed by Ildikó Enyedi’s Berlin Golden Bear winning On Body and Soul on four.

The LUX Film Prize returns this November

The European Parliament LUX Film Prize casts an annual spotlight on films that go to the heart of European public debate.
It aims to enhance the circulation of European films across the EU, to promote the diversity of European cinema and to spark discussion about major societal issues raised in the films selected. Previous winners include Toni Erdmann, Mustang, and Ida.
