Single Project 2020 results announced

In the latest round of funding from the Single Project development scheme, 64 projects have been awarded grants totalling €2,705,000.

In total, 278 applications from 32 countries were submitted to the 13 November 2019 deadline (call number EACEA 17/2019, round one), making a success rate of 23%.

This year four UK production companies were selected, giving the UK an application success rate of 21%. They share a total of €210,000 to support their projects:

EFP announces first digital edition of Producers on the Move 2020

MEDIA-supported European Film Promotion's networking programme Producers on the Move will take place online from 11 to 15 May 2020. This year, in response to the disruption of Covid-19, the selected producers will meet online and present their projects in speed meetings and roundtable sessions. An industry case study as well as talks with experts will round out the digital programme that runs over five days.

Results from 2020 Film Festivals scheme announced

The latest results for the Film Festivals scheme (call number EACEA/26/2019) have been published, with 33 organisations from 21 countries selected to receive grants totalling almost €1.58 million.

DOK Leipzig, Cinekid and Sarajevo Film Festival featured once again in the beneficiaries list, with two newcomer additions of Odessa International Film Festival and Brussels International Film Festival. 

Automatic distribution 2019 results announced

The latest results from Creative Europe's Automatic distribution scheme have been published. This funding rewards European distributors for releasing European films from another country (non-national films). The more successful their films are at the box office, the larger the grant they are able to generate, allowing them to reinvest in other European, non-national acquisitions.

Altogether, almost €23 million has been allocated, supporting 247 applications from 32 countries. UK distributor's supported include:

ON THE BLOG: Scottish filmmakers at Berlinale Talents Q&A

Within the first quarter of 2020, a spike of Scottish filmmakers were selected for European training schemes including Berlinale Talents, EAVE, Less is More and IFFR Pro. Alberto Valverde from Creative Europe Desk UK in Edinburgh met with three Scots taking part in Berlinale Talents this year, to talk about their experience attending, the value of training programmes like Talents, and the importance of participating in European networks.

BFI: Producers Network in Cannes 2020

Our friends the BFI are inviting applications to participate to the Producers Network in Cannes 2020.

Where: Cannes, Plage Des Palmes 

Deadline to apply: Friday 13 March 2020.

The UK will be one of the presenting partners of the Producers Network of the 2020 edition. Five producers will be given the opportunity to be spotlighted  and present their companies and projects to International decision makers.

UK project among 38 selected for Sofia Meetings

Sofia Meetings, the industry platform of the Sofia International Film Festival (12-22 March), has selected 38 projects to be pitched, presented and discussed at the event.

Six projects hailing from Europe, Georgia and Turkey will be pitched publicly in the Second Film sidebar, with another eleven first or third films being presented in the Plus Minus One section. A third sidebar, Projects in Bank, has selected 13 projects hailing mainly from Bulgaria. Finally, a new edition of First Film First will help eight projects to find their way in the over-saturated market.

MEDIA-supported Less Is More announces 2020 participants

Supported by Creative Europe's MEDIA Programme, Less is More has been set up to empower a generation of filmmakers intent on opening new avenues and finding new audiences by tackling new issues. 24 particpants were announced last week, with six individuals in total either from, or living and working in the UK.

16 filmmakers are selected each year worldwide that want to develop their first, second or third fiction feature film project within a limited budget frame. The following UK participants were chosen:
