21 UK emerging professionals join the 17th edition of Berlinale Talents

250 emerging professionals from 77 countries have been selected to join this year’s Berlinale Talents from over 3,000 applications, 21 of which are from the UK. Exploring the theme of 'mistakes' and how to fail better, the talents will participate in the programme between 9 to 14 February 2019 featuring over 100 workshops, talks and film discussions designed to embrace going wrong as a means of creative renewal. 

Programme manager Florian Weghorn says "We all make mistakes...Let's openly debate what's 'right' and what is supposedly 'wrong'."

It's the early 18th century, England is at war with France and Queen Anne's (Olivia Colman) poor health finds her relying on her doting friend Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz). Ten MEDIA supported films triumph at European Film Awards

Now in its 31st year, the European Film Awards - dubbed the arthouse Oscars(R) - announced the recipients of its top prizes in Seville on Saturday night at a rallying ceremony, where mention of Brexit was not bypassed.

It was a triumphant night for Pawel Pawlikowski’s monochrome Creative Europe-backed drama Cold War, coming away with five prizes out of the six it was nominated for, including:

UK feature The Panopticon among projects selected for IFFR’s CineMart

The International Film Festival Rotterdam’s co-production market CineMart has released the list of projects chosen to partake in its 36th edition from 27 to 30 January.

The project selected from the UK is The Panopticon, an adaptation of Scottish author Jenni Fagan’s acclaimed novel of the same name, set in a dystopian world in which a 15-year-old girl is sent to a home for chronic youth offenders. Produced by Rosetta Films, the film will be directed by Jim Loach and has been scripted by Fagan.

Run for the Border is an international meeting of the minds, an event created for the purposes of friendship, cooperation and camaraderie, taking place exactly halfway between Dublin and Belfast.
