UK project Old Boys nominated at the EFA Young Audience Award 2019

The European Film Academy (EFA) have revealed the three nominees for its EFA Young Audience Award 2019. Among the selection is Toby MacDonald's Bergerac-inspired comedy Old Boys. Production company Momac Films received development funding towards the project under the previous MEDIA programme. Starring Alex Lawther and Jonah Hauer-King, the film is released today in UK cinemas by Verve Pictures. 

Series Mania announces 2019 programme

Today Series Mania - the international TV event - announced its line-up for 2019, running between 22 and 29 March in Lille, France. 

Designed to bring together the foremost creators, screenwriters and directors of the serial universe, last year's festival drew record figures with 2000 industry professionals and 56,695 spectators in attendance.

The UK signs the revised version of the European Convention on Cinematographic Coproduction (ECCC)

Amidst the uncertainty of Brexit, the UK’s ability to co-produce with other European countries remains unaffected as it is governed by the Convention under the auspices of the Council of Europe.  

The Convention has recently undergone a revision which allows more flexibility and enables European signatories to coproduce with partners outside Europe, for example Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America, without having to use bilateral coproduction treaties.

Scotland’s animation summit to focus on France

Scotland’s biggest animation gathering, MOVE Summit, will take place from 20 - 22 February this year in Edinburgh. 

Born in 2016 as a collaboration between animation studios, Interference Pattern and Stampede, MOVE Summit has become the flagship conference for the Scottish animation sector – showcasing the best work from throughout the industry, offering an exciting space for professionals to gather together and get inspired. 

MOVE 2019 is set to be the biggest yet – with capacity for 750 attendees over three days.
