Join the Europa Cinemas network in 2020

Applications are now open for cinema exhibitors to join the Europa Cinemas network in 2020 - an organisation uniting more than 1,130 cinema in 34 MEDIA countries with the primary objective of screening and promoting non-national European films. 

There are currently 42 cinemas across the UK participating in the network, including Filmhouse Edinburgh, Broadway Nottingham, Barbican London, Watershed Bristol, Curzon Bloomsbury and MAC Birmingham. If you're interesting in joining the Network, you must submit an application before 15 September 2019.

Creative Europe Desk UK are teaming up with BFI NETWORK: Northern Ireland Screen and the British Council Film Team for a regional talent mixer for Northern Ireland based writers, directors and producers.

Four international co-production funds to receive Creative Europe funding

In the most recent results from the MEDIA sub-programme's International Co-Production Funds scheme (call number 26/2018), four funds share a total of €2,075,000. 

The grants will be redistributed to producers to support either the production or distribution of international co-productions. Each supported fund has its own objectives, eligibility criteria and application procedure and interested producers should apply directly to the organisation that manages the fund.

New call for proposals: Pilot project - Platform(s) for cultural content innovation

The European Commission has announced a new Call for Proposals titled 'Platform(s) for cultural content innovation' which aims to incentivise European content creators to test and develop new approaches and business models and encourage them to embrace new technologies. 

One of the main objectives of this funding opportunity is to encourage a culture of knowledge-sharing and data transparency within the European content industries.

A two day lab for feature film producers. International industry experts will take participants through the basics of putting a co-production together, from treaties and conventions to legal agreements and sources of finance.

New call for proposals: Cinemas as innovation hubs

The European Commission has launched a new call for proposals titled 'Cinemas as innovation hubs' which will allocate a total of €2 million to projects that test new initiatives in regard to rethinking the cinema experience. The funding has been designed to empower cinemas to innovate and play a more important role in their local communities.
