Creative Europe MEDIA supports 30 audiovisual markets

Creative Europe MEDIA will support over 30 trade events and markets for the European audiovisual industry aiming to facilitate European and international co-production by creating an environment where buyers and content owners can meet, network and negotiate deals. The supported events, which will take place in 2015 and 2016, are targeting feature films, documentary, animation, cross-media and video games.

Europa Cinemas and Cineteca di Bologna invite European cinema exhibitors to participate in their Audience Development Innovation Lab, which takes place in Bologna, Italy, as part of the Il Cinema Ritrovato festival from 27 June to 1 July 2015.

New Head of MEDIA Unit at Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture

Harald Trettenbrein has been appointed as the Agency (EACEA)'s Head of Unit for the Creative Europe - MEDIA programme, taking over the role from Sari Varitainen.
Born in Austria, Harald has worked in academia and as a lawyer in the Austrian Prime Minister's office in Vienna, drafting the bill that introduced private radio in the country.
He was also responsible for the last revision of the European regulatory framework which led to the adoption of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive.

Selective Distribution results published

The first set of results for the MEDIA sub-programme in 2015 have now been published.
Close to €4.2 million was awarded for the January deadline of the Distribution: Selective scheme which will support the theatrical releases of 24 European films outside of their home countries.
UK distributors received €247,700 in total, which will support the release of the following European films in this territory:
