EU Funding Opportunity
Interreg V-A: Cross-border co-operationLandscapes Cities People (LCP) was a three-year, collaborative project of exhibitions, conferences, audience development and education activities. It was European-funded by the Interreg IV-A 2 Seas Mers Zeeën programme.
The project built and broadened audiences for contemporary visual art by creating a sustainable model for audience development. It also worked to improve the quality of arts education services and increase access to those services for marginalised people, young people and communities, as well as enabling visual arts professionals to engage with audiences, markets and work-based opportunities in the cross-border region.
The working methods involved ‘catching up’ by sharing expertise more evenly across national boundaries and joint working, which was used to:
- Create strategies for sustainable development and to build new audiences
- Develop and market contemporary art as a new tourism product adding value to the existing cultural and heritage tourist offer
- Improve the quality of and access to services
- Improve professional competencies and access to work opportunities for cultural workers.
The LCP Europe website provides an overview of the project outcomes, and gives specific examples of the activity that took place between September 2009 and December 2012 as part of the Landscapes, Cities, People project.
