The Highway Rat receives MEDIA funding
The latest results from Creative Europe’s TV Programming scheme have been published, seeing one UK production company awarded funding for their animation project.
In total 87 applications from 16 countries were submitted, with 24 being selected for funding, resulting in a success rate of 28%. Selected projects received a combined total of €6,446,746.
Orange Eyes, whose producers are behind Creative Europe-funded animations such as The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and Stick Man, received a grant of €171,562 for The Highway Rat.
The adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s book about a perpetually hungry rat will air this Christmas and will feature David Tennant, Rob Brydon, Nina Sosanya, Tom Hollander and Frances de la Tour as a motley crew of animal characters.

A new call for the TV programming scheme was announced this autumn, with deadlines set for 16 November 2017 and 24 May 2018.
