Welsh National Opera's In Parenthesis on The Opera Platform

Watch WNO’s In Parenthesis on The Opera Platform

Tune into The Opera Platform on 1 July 2016 to watch Welsh National Opera’s (WNO) major new opera by young British composer Iain Bell. In Parenthesis is an adaptation of the epic poem by Welsh poet, writer and artist David Jones, which has been commissioned by the Nicholas John Trust with 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War Centenary, and is broadcast on the 100th anniversary of the Battle at the Somme.

Not only is In Parenthesis broadcast live online from the Royal Opera House in London on The Opera Platform website on 1 July, it can also be viewed for free for six months with subtitles in six European languages.

The Opera Platform is a Cooperation Project supported by Creative Europe, which aims to open up opera to new audiences and showcase the diversity of European opera online. The project was awarded €1,855,688 from Creative Europe in 2014 and is a partnership involving Opera Europa (representing 155 opera companies and festivals), the cultural broadcasting channel ARTE, and 15 opera companies and festivals from across Europe. There are two UK-based partners: Welsh National Opera, Cardiff and the Royal Opera House, London.
