Meetmarket 2015

Creative Europe supports 58 audiovisual markets

Creative Europe MEDIA sub-programme support totalling almost €7 million is being granted to 58 industry events and activities across Europe which are designed to facilitate audiovisual professionals’ access to markets and to promote European audiovisual works.

The Access to Markets funding aims to bring about European and international co-productions by creating an environment where buyers and content owners can meet, network and negotiate deals. The supported events, which take place in 2016 and 2017, are targeted at feature films, documentary, animation, cross-media and video games.

In the UK, the following projects are selected:

  • Social entrepreneurship organisation the BRITDOC Foundation is awarded €75,000 for the 2017 edition of its Good Pitch Europe initiative.
  • This year, Sheffield Doc/Fest receives continued funding for its annual MeetMarket, as well as for its more recent Alternate Realities Market. The festival is awarded €129,704 for the two initiatives.

Elsewhere in Europe, five further projects are newly supported this year:

  • A co-production and financing market focusing exclusively on animation, the Animation Production Day (Germany)
  • The European Series Summit (France), the business branch of Creative Europe-funded Série Séries
  • The Beldocs Market (Serbia) at the BELDOCS International Documentary Film Festival
  • Filmteractive (Poland), an event focusing on the audiovisual content at the intersection of film and digital
  • A market dedicated to the production of content for virtual and augmented reality across film, television, transmedia and gaming, the VR/AR Contents Market (France)

Altogether, projects from 19 countries have been selected to receive grants and these include (46) international trade events such as CineMart and Cartoon Movie 2017, as well as five online information tools and seven promotional activities, which encourage the circulation and visibility of European films at international markets.

Visit the European Commission website for a full set of results. You can also find an overview of all of the projects supported through this scheme in the Audiovisual Training, Markets and Festivals section of our website.
