Creative Europe invests €4 million in European film releases

The latest results for the Creative Europe MEDIA sub-programme’s Selective distribution scheme have been published.

Almost €4 million has been awarded to distributors who applied for the December 2015 deadline of this funding opportunity (call reference EACEA/13/2015), which supports the theatrical releases of European films outside of their home countries. 

Six UK-based distributors received a total of €392,700 to support the release of the following European films:

Upcoming releases

  • Aleksandr Sokurov’s docu-drama Francofonia, a French/German/Dutch co-production soon to be released in the UK by Curzon Film World (€35,700)
  • European Film Award and LUX Prize winner Mustang, released by Curzon Film World on 13 May 2016 (€64,400)
  • Suburra, directed by Stefano Sollima and released by Kaleidoscope Film Distribution on 24 June 2016 (€64,400)
  • Spanish drama Ma Ma, starring Penelope Cruz and released by Metrodome on 24 June 2016 (€64,400)
  • The Girl King, a period drama set in 17th century Sweden, released by Peccadillo Pictures on 30 July 2016 (€13,200)
