Two UK projects funded in first round of Single Project development results

More than €2 million has been awarded to European producers in newly announced results for the Creative Europe MEDIA sub-programme’s Single Project funding opportunity. Greece and Belgium fared best in this round with five projects selected, followed by France, Germany and Hungary with four projects chosen from each of their countries.

The first round of results of the Call for Proposals EACEA 18/2015 (19 November 2015 deadline) includes two successful applicants from the UK:

  • London/Berlin-based Pistachio Pictures has secured €30,000 for The Cosmonaut, a feature set in a remote coastal village where 10-year-old Molly is struggling to deal with the loss of her father until Victor, a Cosmonaut from the 1960s, falls to earth.
  • The UK’s Adorable Media/Framestore also receives €60,000 for their animation series, Iggy and the Missing Links which they pitched at Cartoon Forum last year.

The funding is designed to support projects with international potential for cinema, television or digital platforms. This selection includes 8 animations, 17 documentaries and 31 fiction projects.

Altogether 370 applications were submitted from 32 countries. 56 projects were selected from 28 countries, including the first successful applications from Albania and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
