Filmmakers and industry professionals meet at East Doc Platform
The initiative, which receives funding through Creative Europe’s Access to Markets scheme, brings Central and Eastern European filmmakers together with international industry professionals and potential funders. It is open to documentary productions from other parts of Europe with projects that are thematically linked to the region.
The teams from this year’s selected projects took part in a five-day preparatory workshop before pitching their films through a mixture of public presentations, roundtables and one-to-one meetings. This was followed by an awards ceremony, with nine projects taking home prizes.
The forum also featured a public conference devoted to different aspects of international documentary filmmaking. This year’s programme featured case studies of British documentaries Notes on Blindness and The Russian Woodpecker. There was also a panel on alternative approaches to distribution featuring two Creative Europe-funded Audience Development projects, KineDok and Moving Docs.
