Shaun the Sheep and Song of the Sea compete for a European Film Award

The European Film Academy (EFA) has announced three nominations in the category for European Animated Feature Film 2015.

Creative Europe-funded UK/France co-production Shaun the Sheep The Movie and Song of the Sea, Tomm Moore’s Oscar nominated fable, co-produced by Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, France and Luxembourg, are in the running for the award.

Based on a selection provided by Cartoon as well as on individual film submissions, a committee chose the films along with Simon Rouby’s French feature Adama. The committee comprised EFA board member and producer Antonio Saura, animation experts Marcel Jean (Annecy Film Festival) and Anja Šošić (Human Ark), as well as Petteri Pasanen (Anima Vitae), Iain Harvey (The Illuminated Film Company) and director Jacques-Rémy Girerd.

The nominated films will be submitted to more than 3,000 EFA members, who will elect the winner. The prize will then be presented at the European Film Awards ceremony in Berlin on 12 December 2015.
