New Italian market to bring together film, TV and video games

The first edition of the Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo (MIA), a new international market that will span television and video games alongside cinema, will be held from 16 to 20 October 2015, during the Rome Film Festival in Italy.

For the first time in Italy, the market will offer a platform which covers all the segments of the audiovisual industry including films, TV series, documentaries and video games.

Aimed primarily at European industry professionals, MIA includes screenings, panel debates, conferences, workshops and meetings for international co-productions. Alongside the various networking opportunities there will be a focus on the latest market trends, paying particular attention to new platforms, transmedia storytelling and gaming.

The market brings together a number of activities, including established Creative Europe-funded events The Business Street, which was attended by around 200 buyers and 70 sales agents last year; and New Cinema Network, a special focus dedicated to co-productions with Italy.

Meanwhile, for the television sector there will be the first edition of TV Days, devoted to networking for television series, as well as a panel discussion about the relationship between cinema and video games.

The market’s international board of advisors includes Element Pictures’ Ed Guiney (Ireland) and Stephen Woolley of Number 9 Films (UK).

More information and accreditation details can be found on the Rome Film Festival website.
