Song of the Sea wins at Galway
Creative Europe-supported animation Song of the Sea, directed by Tomm Moore, has won the Best Irish Feature Film Award at the 27th Galway Film Fleadh. The film is currently out in UK cinemas, released by StudioCanal.
Irish company Cartoon Saloon received a Slate development grant from Creative Europe's MEDIA sub-programme for this animation in which Saoirse, a little girl who can turn into a seal, goes on an adventure with her brother to save the spirit world and other magical beings like her. The film's French distributor also received support for the its release through the Automatic distribution scheme.
The Best Irish First Feature Award went to Mark Noonan’s You’re Ugly Too. Produced by John Keville and Conor Barry, the film will be released on 24 July 2015.
