Europa Cinemas Audience Development Innovation Lab

Follow the conversation at the Europa Cinemas Innovation Lab

The Europa Cinemas Audience Development Innovation Lab kicks off this weekend taking place in Bologna at Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival from Saturday 27 June until Wednesday 1 July 2015.

The lab provides a vital research and development space for cinemas to share experiments – successes and failures  and collectively evolve responsive and practical strategies for dealing with an increasingly dynamic environment. The focus for this particular lab is on creating demand for a diverse cinema.

The UK will be well represented at the event with presentations from HOME, Park Circus and the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN) as well as the organisations behind projects such as Conversations About Cinema and the Creative Europe-funded ABCinema.

Professor Ian Christie, one of the architects behind the Europa Cinemas’ Bologna labs, will also be providing some insights into the evolution of cinema buildings and audiences’ expectations.

UK participants include Charlie Bligh (BFI Southbank), Paul Gallagher (Glasgow Film Theatre) and Film London's Flora Fenzies (Shortwave Cinema and The Lexi Cinema)

A full programme is available to download together with more detailed information on speakers and participants. You can also follow the conversation from the lab via Storify.

Details on the 19th Europa Cinemas Network Conference (taking place in Prague from 27-29 November 2015) as well as the 2016 Audience Development Labs in Seville, Sofia and Bologna can be found on the Europa Cinemas website.
