Raymond Jean’s Reader for Hire published by Peirene Press

Creative Europe-supported book Reader for Hire now published

The new translation of French author Raymond Jean’s Reader for Hire has now been published by Peirene Press. Translated from the French by Adriana Hunter, this novel is described as ‘a beautiful homage to the art of reading’.

'The premise of the story is brilliant – a woman who loves reading aloud acquires – without realizing – power over others. What’s true for her clients becomes real for you, the reader of this book. As you turn the pages, think of Marie-Constance as the personification of ‘reading’ itself. And I promise you an experience you will never forget.' Meike Ziervogel, Peirene Press

Reader for Hire is part of Peirene Press’ Chance Encounter Series, which includes three books and received a grant of €20,043 from Creative Europe in 2014 through the Literary Translation funding opportunity.
