UK project among 38 selected for Sofia Meetings

Sofia Meetings, the industry platform of the Sofia International Film Festival (12-22 March), has selected 38 projects to be pitched, presented and discussed at the event.

Six projects hailing from Europe, Georgia and Turkey will be pitched publicly in the Second Film sidebar, with another eleven first or third films being presented in the Plus Minus One section. A third sidebar, Projects in Bank, has selected 13 projects hailing mainly from Bulgaria. Finally, a new edition of First Film First will help eight projects to find their way in the over-saturated market.

Stephanie Joalland's Ice was one of six projects selected as part of the Second Film section of the event. The feature is being produced by Sean McConville of Frenzy Films.

Ice's Logline: When a one-million-year-old parasitic bacterium is unearthed during a fracking accident, a bereaved microbiologist travels to a research facility in the Arctic to investigate its disturbing impact on the human brain.
