UK co-production selected for dok.incubator 2019

dok.incubator, the international documentary rough-cut workshop funded through Creative Europe's Training scheme, has announced its project selections for 2019.

Filmmaking teams will experience three one-week residential sessions throughout April to September in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Sweden, with the aim of sharpening their final cut and preparing an innovative marketing and distribution strategy for their project.

Among this year's selection is UK co-production Once Upon a Time, Congo Mirador, directed by Anabel Rodriguez and depicting the lives of the inhabitants of a small village built on stilts in the middle of Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela. Sancocho Publico A.C. (Venezuela) are producing in partnership with Spiraleye Productions (UK) and Loma Filmes (Brazil).

A previous Brazilian project to have benefited from dok.incubator is Petra Costa's The Edge of Democracy. Her film recently enjoyed its European premiere at CPH:DOX, where she spoke about how useful the experience was in allowing the project the space to breathe.

This year the dok.incubator team selected eight projects out of almost 100 applications.
