Two UK co-productions selected for Docs in Thessaloniki 2019

The European Documentary Network (EDN) has announced the final selection of projects for the Creative Europe-funded event Docs in Thessaloniki.

The list includes two projects with UK involvement:

  • Phoenix (UK/Ireland/Romania/Spain/Germany) produced by freelance documentary filmmaker Daire Collins
  • Safe Passage (UK/Russia) by production company Victoria Films

Supported through Creative Europe's Access to Markets scheme, this year's annual pitching forum takes place from 1 to 5 March in Greece. During the event the 21 selected documentary projects are developed, re-worked and pitched to a panel of international financiers. A smaller group of the participants also have the opportunity to develop an outreach strategies and optimise distribution plans in order to enhance audience engagement for their projects.

Three mentors throughout the development phase of the event are UK-based including Paula Vaccaro, Flora Gregory and Brian Hill. Among the line-up of international financiers attending are commissioners and experts from ARTE GEIE, Cat & Docs, SVT, Women Make Movies and Films Transit.
