Sorfond+ announces first supported projects

Five projects have been selected to receive funding from Sorfond+, with grants totalling €217,000.

Sorfond+ is one of the funds supported through Creative Europe’s International Co-production Funds scheme, supporting co-productions between European film producers and producers from developing countries. The fund is administered by the Norwegian Film Institute in collaboration with Films From The South Foundation and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mehrdad Oskouei received €33,500 for Revisited, his sequel to Starless Dreams (which won the Grierson Award for best documentary at the London Film Festival last year). His latest revisits five inmates at an under-18 women’s prison in Iran.

Sueño Florianópolis by Ana Katz also received €33,500. The film is an Argentina-Brazil co-production following families holidaying to Florianópolis in Brazil.

Three films are receiving €50,000. You Will Die at Twenty by Amjad Abu Alala (an Egypt-Sudan co-production), Made in Bangladesh by Rubaiyat Hossain, and Lebanese film 1982 by Oualid Mouaness.
