Save the Date: MEDIA Day at Berlinale 2016 announced

Details for the next MEDIA day at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) have been announced, with the first European Film Forum of the year taking place on 15 February 2016 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel (Potsdamer Platz 3). 

The event, organised by the European Commission, takes a digital focus and showcases innovative projects supported by Creative Europe's MEDIA sub-programme. Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, is set to attend. 

This year also sees the 25th anniversary of the MEDIA sub-programme, and the year-long celebrations will commence with a networking reception after the day’s talks and panel discussions. 

More detailed speaker information is to be announced soon. A preliminary overview of the schedule is below:

9.30am - 10am: Welcome coffee

10am – 12.30pm: Going Innovative: Digital and Social Motion

A showcase of MEDIA-funded projects and initiatives. Speakers representing projects focusing on digital innovation and their impact on society will present their achievements. Attendees will also hear about the latest developments of the Creative Europe MEDIA sub-programme, gaining insight into the 2015 project selections and a taste of what is coming up in 2016.

12.30pm - 2pm: Networking lunch

2pm – 6.15pm: Go Digital: How to Put European Works in the Spotlight 

A continuation of the European Film Forum discussions, held in co-operation with the European Film Agency Directors (EFADs). Speakers will review some of the challenges and opportunities for new audiovisual business models and technology, as well as offer new user and industry-friendly solutions to the promotion of European audiovisual works.

6.30pm - 9pm: MEDIA in Motion

A reception at the 66th edition of the Berlinale kicks off the year's festivities for the 25th anniversary of MEDIA.
