Results from Film Festivals scheme announced
The latest results for the Film Festivals scheme have been published, with 33 organisations from 19 countries receiving funding. The successful applicants share just over €1.5 million.
Three festivals received funding for the first time under this call (EACEA/32/2018) they are:
- FEST - New Directors | New Films Festival in Portugal
- Anim'est International Animation Film Festival in Romania
- MOLODIST Kyiv International Film Festival in Ukraine
This also marks the 10th year that Bristol-based festival Encounters - the UK's leading short film and animation festival - has received support from MEDIA. The festival will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2019.
The festivals scheme supports film festivals that programme a majority of European films from at least 15 countries participating in the MEDIA sub-programme and in particular those that demonstrate a commitment to developing new audiences and increasing levels of film literacy through various innovative outreach activities.
In total there were 106 applications from 30 countries submitted, including five from festivals based in the UK.
