Reporting back from the first Wales International Documentary Festival
Earlier this month, over 70 documentary producers and filmmakers joined Creative Europe Desk UK - Wales at two panel events held as part of the inaugural Wales International Documentary Festival (WIDF), which took place in Blackwood, South Wales.
At our brunch event, run in association with BAFTA Cymru, factual commissioners Anna Miralis (Channel 4), Llion Iwan (S4C), Rhys James (Vice UK) and Jamie Balment (BBC) talked the audience through recent programmes and gave insights about what they are looking to commission in the future.
After a series of one-to-one meetings between producers and commissioners, the Blackwood Miners Institute then played host to an afternoon session looking closely at international co-productions and how to produce for an international audience. Expert advice was shared by Amanda Rees (Tifini), Samantha Horley (Vipers Nest), André Singer (Spring Films) and Kimberley Warner (Ffilm Cymru Wales).
You can watch Buzz TV chat to the leading commissioners in the UK about the best ways to pitch Idea's to the major television and new media networks in the video below.
