Opera Europa Digital Platform launches in May

Opera Europa Digital Platform launches on 6 May in Madrid’s Teatro Real and will begin a series of monthly online showcases of a complete opera from one of their 15 partner theatres.

Opera Europa Digital Platform is a Cooperation Project supported by Creative Europe. The project received €1,855,688 in 2014 and brings together a partnership between Opera Europa, representing 155 opera companies and festivals; the cultural broadcasting channel ARTE; and 15 carefully selected theatres from across Europe. Two UK-based opera companies are taking part in Opera Europa Digital Platform: Welsh National Opera, Cardiff and the Royal Opera House, London.

Opera Europa Digital Platform kicks off in May 2015 with four showcase productions alongside shorter films featuring opera across Europe, with each production subtitled in six languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Polish. This online platform aims to appeal to existing opera fans and to new online audiences.
