Nine Creative Europe-funded films receive BAFTA nominations for 2017
This year’s BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Award) nominations have been announced, with nine MEDIA-funded films receiving a total of 16 nominations. The nominated films are:
- Florence Foster Jenkins
- I, Daniel Blake
- Son of Saul
- The Girl with all the Gifts
- Toni Erdmann
Leading the way is I, Daniel Blake, with five nominations, including awards for Best Film, Best Outstanding British Film and Best Director. Following close behind is Florence Foster Jenkins, with four nominations, including Best Leading Actress and Best Supporting Actor.
The Girl with all the Gifts has been nominated for the Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. To date, the film has received MEDIA support to be distributed in four countries outside of the UK; Hungary, Finland, Spain and Norway.
In addition, all five titles nominated in the category for Best Film Not in the English Language are MEDIA-funded.
All of the nominated films have received support for distribution, while I, Daniel Blake and Toni Erdmann have also received development funding.
