
Five MEDIA-supported films receive BAFTA nominations
BAFTA habe announced the nominations for the 2020 British Academy Film Awards this week, featuring five films that have been supported by Creative Europe MEDIA funding across Europe. The nominations were announced by Ella Balinska and Asa Butterfield at BAFTA Piccadilly in London, and the awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 2 February 2020.
The BAFTA-nominated MEDIA-funded films are:
- Pain And Glory/ Dolor y Gloria, by Pedro Almodóvar (Spain, 2019), nominated for Best Film Not in the English Language – supported via the Automatic Distribution scheme.
- Portrait of a Lady on Fire/ Portrait de la jeune fille en feu by Céline Sciamma (France, 2019), nominated for Best Film Not in the English Language – supported via the Automatic Distribution scheme.
- Sorry We Missed You, by Ken Loach (UK, France, Belgium, 2019), nominated for Outstanding British Film – supported via the Automatic Distribution scheme and Sales Agent scheme.
- Maradona, by Asif Kapadia (UK, 2019), nominated for Best Documentary – supported via the Automatic Distribution scheme.
- A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, by Will Becher, Richard Phelan (UK, France, US, 2019), nominated for Best Animated Film – supported via the Automatic Distribution scheme.
