Film Sales Support takes 41 titles to Toronto
With backing from Creative Europe's MEDIA sub-programme, Film Sales Support (FSS) assists with the promotion of European films at festivals and markets outside of Europe, including the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Programme organisers European Film Promotion (EFP) have reserved a total of €160,540 for 28 sales companies to unroll their marketing campaigns for 41 new films screening at the flagship autumn festival.
For the first time, a Turkish film will benefit from this support, since the country recently became a participant of Creative Europe's MEDIA sub-programme, which has been supporting FSS for 12 years. Can Evrenol's Baskin is represented by the UK’s The Salt Company and will screen in the Midnight Madness section of the TIFF programme.
From the UK, Scottish director Michael Cayton Jones's Urban Hymn, a South West London coming-of-age drama set against the backdrop of the 2011 riots, will screen alongside Terence Davies' UK/Luxembourg co-production, Sunset Song.
