Fight Girl wins EFA Young Audience Award

The results of the 2019 EFA Young Audience Award have been announced, with 12 - 14-year-olds in 55 cities across Europe electing Fight Girl by Johan Timmers as their winner. The film was nominated alongside Los Bando and UK project Old Boys

On 5 May 2019, having watched the three nominated films, 2800 young cinema-lovers deliberated and decided on their favourite. Participating cinemas from the UK included BFI Southbank, Lewes Depot and Showroom Sheffield. The results were then reported via video conference to Germany where former YAA juror Ivana Noa from Belgium moderated the award ceremony.

The ceremony is available to watch online and with the support of the MEDIA sub-programme through the Promotion of Audiovisual Works Online scheme the films are available on various Europe-wide and territory-specific video-on-demand platforms.

The award is organised and presented by the European Film Academy and EFA Productions, with the support of the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM).
