European Parliament launches two new calls on film and TV subtitling
On 27 July the European Parliament announced two new pilot schemes that aim to increase the circulation of audiovisual works.
- Call for proposals to try out innovative strategies to enforce the circulation of European TV content throughout Europe
The objective of this call is to test new business models for European broadcasters and assess whether providing subtitled versions of European TV programmes can help the shows travel across borders and increase their audience numbers.
The objective of this call is to develop an online tool that will allow service providers (e.g. VOD services, catch-up TV services or cinema theatres) to find different language versions of any given film with the aim of increasing the exposure of European films in video on demand (VOD) services available in the EU.
Both calls are now open for applications and have a deadline of 26 September.
