Europa Cinemas open application period for network entry

Founded in 1992 with funding from the MEDIA sub-programme and from the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC), Europa Cinemas is the first cinema network focusing on European films.

Its objective is to provide operational and financial support to cinemas that commit themselves to screen a significant number of European non-national films, to offer events and initiatives as well as promotional activities targeted at young audiences.

Europa Cinemas’ objectives are:

  • Increase and diversify programming in cinemas for European films and raise attendance for them, with a priority on non-national films.
  • Encourage European exhibitors in their initiatives to attract young audiences.
  • Develop a network of cinemas that can set up joint activities at the national and European level.
  • Encourage innovation in the promotion of films and communication with audiences.

Europa Cinemas has now opened applications for exhibitors to join the network as of 1 January 2018. Applications can be made from 1 July to 15 September 2017 and will be reviewed by the Europa Cinemas Validation Committee in October.

For more information about the support scheme and conditions for eligibility, please read the MEDIA Guidelines. European exhibitors that are not part of the network can still also benefit from its various activities, including the Network Conference, the next edition of which will take place in Bucharest from 24 to 26 November 2017.
