Creative Europe project helps PRS Foundation CEO join Beyonce in BBC Power List

Vanessa Reed of PRS Foundation has won the number three spot on the BBC Woman’s Hour Power List of the 40 most powerful women in the music industry.

The top five on the list are Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Vanessa Reed, CEO of the PRS Foundation, Adele and Stacey Tang, Managing Director of RCA UK.

PRS Foundation is the lead partner in Creative Europe-supported Cooperation Project Keychange, which promotes the role of women in music and raises awareness of the gender gap in music across Europe.

Jessica Duchen said: “She’s had a huge impact across the board, and the Keychange initiative which involved getting so many international festivals to sign up to a pledge to gender parity, is a stunning development in the music world as a whole.”

Vanessa Reed said: “Really honoured and humbled to be no.3 on this women in music power list. I strongly believe that the music industry’s future success and innovation will be determined by the breadth of talent on stage and behind the scenes. Female talent- like those on the power list - needs to be a greater part of that mix and I’m glad that BBC and others are drawing attention to this.”

Vanessa spoke about Keychange as part of a panel discussion at the CONNECT! Creative Europe Desk UK Forum on the Value of Networks.
