ON THE BLOG: Culture Team Staff Changes
As the UK culture sector experiences further transformation, the Creative Europe Desk UK Culture team is also undergoing its own changes as we say goodbye to Head of Culture England and Culture Adviser Christoph Jankowski on 24 April, the end of an era after 6 years at the helm of the Culture Desk and 4 years before that at the Cultural Contact Point. Many of you will know of his passionate advocacy for Creative Europe and cross-border collaboration, and the legacy of 289+ Culture projects with UK partners since 2014.
Christoph is leaving to take on a new challenge and join the British Council’s Global Network Team as Regional Manager, East Asia & Americas. He says:
Helping the UK’s cultural and creative sectors develop their European ambitions has been an incredibly rewarding role. These last years haven’t been without challenges and I’ve learned a lot. I am proud of the team’s perseverance, and UK and rest-of-Europe’s cultural sector organisations’ commitment to working on important issues across borders, no matter what the world throws at them.
I’ve always felt that Creative Europe is a future-oriented way of working, providing benefits hard to measure, but vital to the sectors’ development – and I am confident that the UK’s vibrant and resilient sectors will find ways to continue making meaningful and reciprocal cooperation with European peers work, no matter what the context.
We are also delighted that Sarah Boulter, Culture England Coordinator, will be promoted to Culture England Manager when Julia Birch goes on maternity leave in mid-May, to continue the strong work of supporting organisations through these ever-changing times.
As always, please get in contact with the Culture team to discuss how we can help you.
